Our favourite [and most unique] Chrissy venues

Picking a Christmas venue for your professional peeps can be a daunting task. There’s lots to consider; is the venue in a central location for easy access? Is the space appropriate for the use? Does it match your company’s brand? And above all…does it have the right vibe for your event? As the venue is such a significant part of the attendee experience and you’re looking to impress right…why not think outside the norm? Here at the College of Event Management we are big fans of the slightly unconventional and with the Christmas season fast approaching we thought you might enjoy seeing some of our favourite and most unique Chrissy venues around Australia.

Unique Turbine Shop venue - looks like a big empty warehouse with tables set up for a function

NSW – Turbine Shop at Cockatoo Island

NSW – Turbine Shop at Cockatoo Island

I’m not sure you can get much more industrial – or unique for that matter, than Cockatoo Island’s Turbine Shop. This stunning venue has played host to a plethora of events over the years ranging from music events to weddings, corporate functions and exhibitions. Not only is the shop the largest shed on the iconic Cockatoo Island but it was once the largest building in the southern hemisphere! There is certainly something special about the raw industrial vibe of this beauty that creates an amazing atmosphere for any event.

A green nursery full of plants morphs into an event venue by night

VIC – Glasshaus

VIC – Glasshaus

Glasshaus, described as “Industrial chic meets botanical splendour” is one of Melbourne’s hidden gems. This smallish Richmond space is showered in natural light with plants draping from the walls and impeccably styled, this old/now new warehouse provides the perfect backdrop for any event. It’s a super easy set up too, as there is no need for additional styling because of the abundance of plants and nursery style elements already in place. The Glasshaus’s claim to fame? It has been the site of quite a few CoEM graduations.

Balloons, umbrellas and fake grass all make this unique outdoor venue

QT Hotel – QLD

QLD – QT Gold Coast

Love the description for this beautifully unique QLD venue; “nostalgic surfer chic meets Miami catwalk cool”. Make of that what you will, but there’s something for everyone is the quintessential Gold Coast hotel; meeting rooms, terraces, restaurants, lounges and more so whatever your Chrissy do looks like, there’s sure to be something that fits the theme and budget and enough WOW factor to give your guests a Chrissy thrill.

A modern barn turns into an event venue when lighting and table settings are aded

WA – Stackwood Hall

WA – Stackwood Hall

Stackwood Hall in Freemantle is (uniquely) housed in a former diesel workshop in Fremantle. We love that kind of resourcefulness, not to mention the industrial look being very on trend at the moment. This venue is flexible and can accommodate a multitude of different events; long table dinners, workshops or larger corporate events, weddings and private parties. Stackwood is a ‘blank canvas’ venue (see pics) with great features such as white washed brick walls,  high-pitched ceilings and exposed trusses…just the thing for festoon lighting. Great thing about this venue is that you can channel your event stylist self and go absolutely crazy with the space.

Christmas can be any time of the year with help from our favourite and most unique Chrissy venues!
